Why resoling is possible when the construction allows it

A shoe can be resoled when the sole is a separate piece on a fastening a repairer can open and redo.

When the purchase is complete, return to the original window. It will refresh.

From the opening

Resoling replaces a worn outsole while keeping the upper. That is possible when the sole was attached by a stitch, a line of nails, or another fastening that can be cut and remade without destroying the upper's attachment to the shoe. The opening covers the sole is a separate piece, a welt stitch can be remade, and a glued bond resists opening.

The rest of the brief — the later sections and the reading notes — opens after Stripe confirms payment.
