The berth is the length of quay where a ship can lie safely alongside, and the ship-to-shore crane is the machine that moves boxes between that ship and the yard. Deep water without a free berth, or a berth without a crane that fits the ship, does not unload the cargo. The opening covers the berth is limited quay length, cranes must match the ship, and yard space does not berth a hull.
