Stained glass is held together either by lead came, an H-shaped strip whose channels grip the edges of each piece, or by copper foil wrapped around those edges and soldered. In both methods the colored glass is cut to a cartoon and the metal, not the glass, makes the continuous line that ties the window into one panel. The opening covers lead came is an H-shaped channel, foil wraps each piece of glass, and solder locks the joints.
