How glue starves if the fit is wrong

A bad fit leaves high spots squeezed dry and gaps filled with a thick, weak glue line.

When the purchase is complete, return to the original window. It will refresh.

From the opening

Wood glue bonds by wetting both faces and curing as a thin film between them, and many common glues are strong only when that film stays thin. If the parts touch on high spots and stand apart elsewhere, clamp pressure empties the high spots of glue while the gaps keep a thick, weaker layer. The opening covers high spots squeeze the film out, gaps keep a thick weak line, and many wood glues will not fill.

The rest of the brief — the later sections and the reading notes — opens after Stripe confirms payment.
