How caning works

Cane is woven through holes in a wooden seat frame, then tightens as it dries into a sprung panel.

When the purchase is complete, return to the original window. It will refresh.

From the opening

Caning fills a seat or a back with strands of rattan cane woven through a pattern of holes in the wooden frame. The strands themselves become the panel, held by the holes and by the way they lock over and under one another. The opening covers strands pass through drilled holes, diagonals lock the open grid, and drying shrinks the cane tight.

The rest of the brief — the later sections and the reading notes — opens after Stripe confirms payment.
